Abstract: This thesis is about the problem of unequal development in Fiji in particular the inequality between western Viti Levu and eastern Fiji. It can be argued that there are essentially two approaches that can be taken in examining this problem: (1) pluralist/diffusionist/modernisation theory or (2) critical political economy.
