Abstract: Recently, many studies have showed that butanol is a better fuel than ethanol due to its superior qualities thus could be a better additive fuel or a potential replacement to gasoline. The main aim of this research was to estimate the amount of butanol that can be produced from the available residues of the sugar and timber industry. The residues considered in this research were sugarcane bagasse, hog fuel, molasses and sugarcane trash.
