Drawn by the pull of the city, these phenomena have resulted in an influx of people settling in marginalized settlements where the poor are often left ignored and undocumented with limited resources and options to pursue a sustainable livelihood. In the center of this study are the livelihood strategies of the urban poor residing in Muanivatu squatter settlement in Suva City, Fiji. The study aims to understand how people’s livelihood strategies hinder or contribute to positive livelihood outcomes in order to provide recommendation that can serve as the platform to improve livelihoods for the poor.
