Central to this is the Mate Ma'a Tonga framework and how it is perceived in school prefects' practices at an all-boys' school in Tonga. Individual in-depth talanoa (Vaioleti, 2006) was used to gather the data from eight school administrators' and senior school prefects' perceptions and expectations of student leadership at Tonga College.
