Abstract: This study is based on the students' and school administrators' perceptions and expectations of student leadership at Tonga College, one of the oldest schools in the Kingdom. Central to this is the Mate Ma'a Tonga framework and how it is perceived in school prefects' practices at an all-boys' school in Tonga. Individual in-depth talanoa (Vaioleti, 2006) was used to gather the data from eight school administrators' and senior school prefects' perceptions and expectations of student leadership at Tonga College.
